A Primer on the British "Piss" The word "piss" has different meanings in Britain as it does in America. "Piss" as Teasing The phrase "taking the piss" is similar to "taking the Mickey" where it means that the speaker is teasing and joking around, and basically messing with someone. "Piss" for Drinking The phrase "I'm pissed" refers to the consumption of alcohol. It does not mean "I'm angry" as it would in America. Instead, a more appropriate translation would be "I'm drunk."
