Chips vs Fries
In America, they are known as French fries. There was an active call to change this to freedom fries when America was mad at the French, but this didn't stick. In England, they are called chips, but not always. Take a gander at many independently owned restaurant menus and the viewer will find many English restaurants referring to chips as French fries. Sometimes, in the same menu, a restaurant will flip-flop between calling them French fries or chips. |
