Hailing a Taxi in London
The norms for hailing a taxi cab in London, England, may be different than how a person would hail a cab in New York City. Be sure to look at the light on top of the taxi cab. This will let you know if the taxi cab is in service and looking for new passengers. Once a taxi pulls over, tell the driver where you are planning on going, and if the driver is willing to take you, the driver will let you in the taxi cab. Sometimes, taxi cab drivers are unwilling to take a passenger somewhere if it is only a short distance away. When talking to the driver, be wary of opportunistic people who will hijack the taxi cab by just hopping into it while you are conversing with the driver. |
